Schloss Clemenswerth

Germany

Clemenswerth Jagdschloss was built in the years 1737-1747 by order of Clemens August, the prince elector and archbishop of Cologne. It is still the only Jagdschloss in the world with a star-shaped avenue structure. Eight linden avenues lead to the centre; the show hunting lodge. Eight pavilions surround the castle.

Emsland Moormuseum

Germany

Europe’s largest moor museum is located in Geeste, in the Emsland region. In two modern exhibition halls and on the large outdoor area, all aspects of peat colonisation in the 18th and 19th centuries in north-west Germany are presented. The showpiece is Ottomeyer’s giant plough.

Other partners

Museum Collectie Brands is one of eight moor gateways in the Natu(u)rpark Moor-Veenland. This German-Dutch nature reserve was once part of the extensive Bourtanger Moor. Due to the peat extraction of the past centuries, this area shrunk considerably in size, but in recent years a lot of hard work has been done to restore its natural beauty. This has brought unique plant and animal species to the area today.
