On Friday the 7th of July, it was announced that King Willem-Alexander and his family will celebrate King’s Day 2024 in Emmen. Residents of the municipality of Emmen are proud of this, albeit with Drenthian modesty. So is Museum Collectie Brands. Founder of the museum, Jans Brands, has also collected objects related to the Dutch royal family or other kings and queens worldwide for many years. All this provides a great occasion to organise an exhibition with a royal touch in 2024. The focus will include important events in people’s lives, such as marriage and birth. Events that take place and are experienced by members of the royal family under the watchful eye of the whole country.
