Jans Brands Art Competition

To mark its 15th anniversary, the Museum Collectie Brands is organising the Jans Brands Art Competition. With this special competition, the museum is paying a lasting tribute to its founder, Jans Brands (1932–2019).

For this occasion, the museum asked the artists of Atelier Kunstvereniging Emmen (AKE) to create a work of art inspired by Jans Brands. His personality, his passion for collecting and his life story form the starting point for a series of new, unique creations. All submitted works will be featured in a special exhibition at the museum, bringing together different styles and interpretations. From paintings to busts: each artist gives shape to the legacy of Jans Brands in their own unique way.

The public plays an important role in this competition. Visitors can vote for their favourite artwork. The artwork with the most votes wins and will be given a permanent place in the museum. The winner will be announced on 17 November during a festive awards ceremony. In addition to the honour, the winning artist will receive a cheque worth €1,000.
